Looks more like Laura Loomer if you ask me.

(No that's is distinctly not a compliment in any ground)

though AI detection tools have found that some media outlets like the New York Post have edited the photo to look even more like JLo.

The original mugshot is in the article, but all the tweets are using the edited photo from the NYP.

She does look quite a bit like JLo, but the edit is almost an exact resemblance.

That's the real story, that a "media" outlet edited a news photo to create a story. The NY Post should be branded "entertainment", like the WWE and Fox News.

New York Post. That's all you need to know.

They touched up the mugshot to make it look more like her

Ok so she doesn't look like Lopez at all

There are a surprising amount of people with dogshit facial recognition.

My wife is truly face blind. She doesn't recognize actors in different roles. Even if she just watched a whole series staring someone, if she watched a different show where they appear, I'll asked her if she recognizes them. She almost never does unless they look very similar. She says stuff like she didn't recognize them because their hair was different, like that is a valid excuse. When I see someone in the wild and say "oh wow, they look just like so and so don't they?" She says no their hair is totally different. 😮‍💨

That's relatable, I'm kind of the same way. I'm absolutely awful at remembering facial (or any) features and I sometimes wonder if it's related to my aphantasia since I can't really picture anything or anyone in my head

Could be. I dont think my wife has much of a mind's eye either. But she was a cancer kid and also had a viral flare up in her eyes while she was immuno-comprimised on chemo that hurt her eyesight pretty bad when she was like 2 or 3. Her eyesight has actually improved significantly over her life as her retinas healed, but it is still pretty bad. I think everything was blurry for her when that part of her brain was supposed to be developing that recognizes faces so it just compensated best it could. Anyway, typical asshole husband, I give the former cancer kid a hard time sometimes about her disability. Out of love.

Is your wife potentially not white? My wife of Sri Lankan decent is very similar. But somehow she can tell who’s an actor from one K-drama to the next.

[-] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Nope. White as the driven snow.

I only just recently noticed that Walter White is Doug Heffernans neighbor.

Nice. Haven't watched Queen of Queens in years and only watched sporadically so I don't remember Doug's neighbor. But I always love a surprise Bryan Cranston. He's also Ted's boss in How I Met Your Mother.

tbf I wouldn't recognize jennifer lopez without makeup

[-] qarbone@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Without being primed to recognize someone, I would pass her on the street, yeah. But, if you threw her into a lineup of women and told me to find JLo, I'd pick her.

[-] QuantumSparkles@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

I still think this looks like her, but after a much harder life

[-] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I mean, her eyes are a different shape, and she has a bit more forehead, but apart from that? Dang, she really is a close doppelganger. With some strategic contouring, she really could pass as her double.

Why do they write "Naturally, the internet has gone wild and Quast's mugshot quickly began generating a whole slew of jokes" and not tell any of the jokes? Added: ok the linked NY Post article has a few of them, meh.

Time to quit the life of crime and start a career in J-Lo impersonation. There's got to be a market, right?
