Why?
It's easier to just go along with the act. The holiday has strayed so far from its original meaning, it may eventually just implode.

Day 7250 of me begging Christians to understand that Jesus is not the patron deity of capitalism, and that Christianity did not invent winter solstice celebrations.
I have a friend who is a Jehovah's Witness and he wonders why Christians do the same thing.
