It makes the games available for a platform they weren’t previously. People who have never played them before can now do so, and people who really liked them can buy them again if they feel like the price is worth it.

The problem with Nintendo is we keep giving them money and then complaining about it.

I haven't played it yet, but I am very happy that they are available on Switch, since I never got to play them before.

GameCube games have been climbing in price, and although they've leveled out recently, they won't get significantly cheaper in our lifetime. Right now the originals will run you around $130 total CIB, so for anyone who doesn't have the games already, it's a no-brainer.

I hope releases like this are successful enough to encourage Nintendo to do more of them outside just their core brands.

And anyway, it's nice to have the entire series in one place. I have Final Fantasy 1-12 (sans 11) on Switch for the same reason.

Yeah, I just went on eBay and you can get them for $50-60 each. There was one Japanese disk-only pikman 2 for $20. So $50 for both and you don't need to mess with ripping the disk and working an emulstor might be worth it for some. However if you have them just sitting in your closet, it seems emulation is the better case here, especially if you have a handheld PC like a steam deck

No upgrades beyond 1080p resolution, despite some really low textures the game still holds up. But $50 is steep for a 20 year old game.

Also personal side note, I wish they implemented motion controls similar to pikmin 3, but they didn’t.

It’s $50 for two games, not one. It’s also widescreen, adds a free camera and the Wii and GameCube control schemes are available.

Sure they did, for the wii..

Docked

Handheld

Some textures still low res 480p. Cutscenes and characters higher res. Perfect 30fps lock even with 100 pikman on screen.

Emulators like dolphin run it at 60fps with mods available to upgrade textures and shaders significantly.

Tldr: if you want it on switch, it's a serviceable HD upgrade albeit at $50. If you want to play it in the best way possible, emulate and mod your old GameCube copy.

Looks good enough for me. Since I have never played it before.

I recently played the first one on my Wii through a crappy HDMI-adapter and was lucky enough that this collection launched before I started 2. I'm just really happy that all the Pikmin-games are available on the Switch, such a cool thing! 🌱
