UPDATE - Yesterday Alex Formenton turned himself into London, ON police. Source

Carter Hart and Dillon Dube, both members of junior Team Canada 2018, have taken leaves from their NHL teams. Might be just a coincidence, unrelated, but it appears as though some kind of ruling on the sexual assault scandal may be coming shortly.

I personally think we should hold off on the speculation. We have seen recently with the Perry/Bedard situation how speculation, even when lighthearted here on the internet, can be extremely hurtful to the people involved. Imagine Carter Hart is ill or going through the loss of a family member, and now the internet is accusing him of sexual assault.

I personally say we wait for more information before we start speculating wildly. Let's be better than Reddit here.

Edit: well, it's official now. Hart's lawyers confirmed he has been accused of sexual assault.

There had been talks about him being sick, I hope this was/is unrelated and that he is able to come back soon.

I hope so too but the fact that he and Dube are both out at the same time seems kinda suspicious.

Let's see how it goes, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

True. I’m hoping that’s unrelated till proven otherwise but that is worrying to say the least.

Yeah I'm not touching those 2018 Canada allegations with a hundred metre pole. If something more substantial comes out in terms of evidence, maybe then, but for now I'm chalking this one up to random chance. Hopefully Hart gets whatever help and care he needs, and that the issue itself isn't too severe.

Seems a lot of people are jumping on it

Well if they want to send themselves off the cliff, fine. But I'm not joining in.

Just means he is going to receive a lot of harassment

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart is taking an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons.

Messages sent to Hart's agent, Judd Moldaver, and lawyer, Scott K. Fenton, seeking comment or further clarification of the situation were not immediately returned.

Hart, 25, is coming off one of his worst starts of an otherwise strong season Saturday when he allowed five goals on 15 shots in a loss to Colorado before being pulled.

In a corresponding move, the Flyers recalled goalie Cal Petersen from their American Hockey League affiliate in Lehigh Valley, Pa., and placed forward Owen Tippett on injured reserve.

The Flyers, who have been one of the league's most pleasant surprises this season and hold a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night in one of their final games before the all-star break.

On Sunday, the Calgary Flames announced forward Dillon Dube was stepping away indefinitely to attend to his mental health and was under the care of professionals.
