You could argue that while both Trek and Andromeda were idealistik Roddenwank, in Trek this manifested as an idealism of form and Andromeda was an expression of idealism of essence.

This is why I maintain that Andromeda was the zerg campaign to Star Trek's posh Protoss gloss.

Needn't saying Earth: Final Conflict is Gene Roddenberry's Terran fare.
