/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

@jawa21@startrek.website for realizing that the line used to be "want to be added to the sidebar?" and capitalized on it. Congratulations and welcome to the sidebar. Stamets is both ashamed and proud.

Occasionally I'm able to make a photoshop that looks halfway-decent.

titanium spock spork? sign me the fuck up

[–] jodanlime@midwest.social 5 points 9 months ago (3 children)

I bought one for hiking and it's now my go to utensil. Don't use it on nice plates or bowls though because the titanium will scratch the hell out of just about everything. https://www.snowpeak.com/collections/utensils/products/titanium-spork

can i get it laser etched with spock? like is that technically feasible with titanium?

e. answer: yes!

Engraving possibilities: what is a jewelry piece if it can’t be etched or engraved to make it more custom and personal? Titanium has all it takes to be laser engraved. Sure, engraving it is not as easy as it is on gold but it is very possible.

Your local maker-space might have a laser engraver. Do it!

I second this spork. I also got it for backpacking, but now its also my go to work lunchbox utensil, and snack utensil at home. They come in fun anodized colors as well!

[–] jodanlime@midwest.social 2 points 9 months ago

I'm probably going to get the longer version for backpacking so I can keep the short one in my kitchen.

[–] kbotc@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

But why? It’s a bad fork, its tines are too short, and it’s a bad spoon, soup drains through the tines. I keep a few spares as just in case backups for camp meals since they weigh next to nothing, but the knife/spoon/fork set doesn’t weigh that much more and it’s so much more functional.

I have used some sporks that are good, and others that are bad. I vouch for the one I linked, and it works well as a spoon for me. It's my go to soup utensil. The tines are a bit short but I'm still able to eat salad with it.

I know right? This is glorious, I'd buy a dozen of them.

Kark and Spork, of the starship Energize.

I think I still have one of those Think Geek titanium sporks somewhere. I could paint Spock on it... I mean it'll be a stick figure, but I'll call it Spock.

Spork is just the shipping name of Spock+Kirk. Either that or Kock.

"I use it to spread butter on those individually-sealed plastic bag bread rolls."
Spock raises an eyebrow - "Fascinating..."

I have a titanium spork. I call it the traditional weapon of my people.
