On a new livestream Thursday, Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski said that he’s working on another book in the series, which would be the first one in a decade.

The livestream was an interview with Sapkowski and Ukrainian fans organized by Fantastic Talk(s). Sapkowski’s comments on the stream, as translated by Witcher fan site Redanian Intelligence, reveal that he’s been hard at work on the new story for some time now.

“Yes, I’m working on a new Witcher book and quite diligently,” Sapkowski said.

The good news is, the book doesn’t seem far away. Sapkowski seemed optimistic about the timing, saying that “it may take a year, but no longer.”

I actually enjoyed season of storms. Maybe because it was relatable to my own life where anything that can go wrong does in fact go wrong, but I had a good time reading it. I mean it's no Baptism of Fire, but it wasn't bad IMO.

I dont think it was bad per se, it just wasnt interesting to me compared to everything else that came before, i wish that he returned to the short stories for this, would be a good way to keep supporting and expanding the world.

But didn't you hear? The reason the franchise is so popular is purely because of the books. It wasn't the games, it wasn't the Netflix series, it was always the books. At least, that's what the author said.

What does have to do with what i was saying? i dont understand, i enjoyed all the books(which are pretty good and the reason the games are good) but the last one which was a prequel wasnt that good compared to the previous ones.

My point is that the author has apparently been growing bitter about the financial success of the spin-offs over his book series, and that this could be affecting the quality of his writing. So it's no surprise the last book wasn't as good, but maybe not because it was a prequel.

To be fair, it's the games. It's not the Netflix series. The Netflix series started off well in the first season and has sucked ever since. The Netflix series is just raking in money based on the popularity of the games. And the books are much better than the series.

It's absolutely the games. The author is mainly bitter that he demanded a flat fee for the games instead of a percentage of sales. He said they would never be successful. Now, he claims that it's always been his books that drove the popularity of the franchise.

I wonder if this means we will get another season of the show and another game. That’s what I’m excited for (I’m illiterate).

Didn't CDPR already say they were making 3 more games in the Witcher universe? As well as remaking the first one I believe

They are planning another season of the show, but it won't have Henry Cavill (the guy who plays Geralt) because he's a fan of the series and doesn't like how the show has gone, with it being so different from the books.

I mostly thought The Lady of the Lake was terrible, but I will still happily read anything else he puts out.
