So I'm fairly social for someone like me and have done my fair share of talking to people as well as toward people, some talks being more passionate than others, so I guess having my odds of this reduced is a factor here when I say occasionally "projecting" will be brought up during a conversation. One should "stop projecting" they might say. It's always in an accusatory kind of context, with being described a certain way by someone else often being connected to the latter person fitting what they're thinking of.

Is this... a meme for a lack of a better word? Where does this conceivably come from? Seeing such a thing all the time, I can't fathom the mindset, it seems so faulty my mind groups it in with grievance misapplication. Why would someone play hot potato with things even deemed to be things nobody should be handling like it's second nature? How could someone in control subconsciously see instinct in this? What happened the last time this came up for you, when did it turn out to be the case?

As a Chinese person, I've noticed these incidents becoming more frequent in recent years. Despite gun control, there have been more knife attacks and vehicle rammings. Many innocent lives have been lost and families shattered, which is deeply distressing and frightening. I often remind my family and friends to be cautious when going out.

Discussing these topics is often restricted or prohibited within China. I'm curious to understand why people who want to 'take revenge on society' harm strangers who are defenseless and unknown to them. Logically, this behavior is hard to comprehend. There's an old Chinese saying that roughly translates to 'revenge should be directed at the source of the grievance.' If someone has been wronged and feels desperate, shouldn't they confront those who harmed them directly? By attacking random strangers, only innocent people suffer while those responsible remain unaffected.

I'm deeply saddened by this situation and am seeking insights. This is my first post on Lemmy, and I hope people can explain this issue or recommend books or videos that address the reasons behind such behaviors. Thank you very much.

I am trying to migrate to cooperative or mutual owned businesses in my life, but one real problem I have is managing all of the elections and votes I am part of now.

Does anyone know of good tools to help store and track stakeholder rights and participation? Like reminders that a vote is in month. Best places to find updates and info. Etc?

I've read ten articles and tried a couple different searches but have only found a dozen or so songs listed anywhere online. Is the entire 250 song playlist recorded somewhere?

A shower thought after my PT ride today was: Let's assume biology is the ultimate final technology to master after a complete scientific understanding of biology, chemistry, and physics is achieved in a very distant future, (full elemental cycles balance becomes possible and ultimate energy efficiency).

So my thought was, could it be possible to create a biological thing by influencing the forces that could create the desired outcome in deep time? Is it possible to define an ecosystem in such a way that one can predict how it will evolve in stages? Like the ecosystems of the dinosaurs are thought to have been far less complex than the world of today. If one were to predict the path of increasing complexity, could one predict an outcome or at least a spectrum of possible outcomes?

What kind of culture would it take to plan on this kind of scale? Like, if you appreciate the technology of today, it was the product of designs someone started several centimillennia ago, so we take pride in the future creations we make possible centimillennia from now. I'm thinking the primary application would be to assess the spectrum of a distant world to then tailor a payload that would terraform a world, but other note niche applications may be possible

Probably another dumb question to ask here, but whatever. It is the kind of marble that gets lost in my brain. I just had this idea of nature as a really bad technologist that only exists on geologic time scales. What if we figured out how to do the same job but better.

Today's conventional wisdom is that both are spectrums. That means one person's experience with autism isn't another person's experience with autism, and one person's experience as a member of the LGBT can differ from another's.

However, that's what the whole point of the letters in the LGBT is. You could be a lesbian, asexual, aromantic, a lesbian who is aromantic, an asexual who is trans, and so on. Someone I know (who inspired me to ask this) has said they began to question why this isn't done regarding people with autism due to constantly seeing multiple people fight over things people do due to their autism because the people in the conflict don't understand each others' experiences but continue to use the label "autism".

One side would say "sorry, it's an autism habit."

"I have autism too, but you don't see me doing that."

"Maybe your autism isn't my autism."

"No, you're just using it as a crutch."

My friend responded to this by making a prototype for an autism equivalent to the LGBT system and says they no longer encourage the "umbrella term" in places like their servers because it has become a constant point of contention, with them maintaining their system is better even if it's currently faulty in some way.

But what's being asked is, why isn't this how it's done mainstream? Is there some kind of benefit to using the umbrella term "autism" that makes it superior/preferred to deconstructing it? Or has society just not thought too much about it?

Sure, maybe I treated someone a russian bot or a comrade, but I don't think I'm very un civilized, so I'd like to know what was it that crossed the line.

So I'd like to know which post was actually removed, is there a way? I'm on Connect and I have clicked all over the automod post without success... it just states a post was removed.

Also, I see no post being removed (could have missed that ofc)?

I've been a linux user for 20 years (mostly on KDE). I just started at a new job, and they gave me a mac. I found out later that I could have got a linux machine instead, which is a bit annoying. Still, I know there are some nice things about a mac, and I figured I'd give it a try for a while.

I'm pretty quick moving around my desktop environment, and I'm finding picking up the mac is not too bad. BUT I use keyboard shortcuts a lot, and they are all every different on a mac. So whenever I switch back and forth between my work machine, I end up stumbling a bunch and wasting my time, and getting annoyed. It's mostly keyboard shortcuts, but the trackpad buttons and scrolling are annoying too.

So, question is: is it possible to regularly use two OSs with wildly different control surfaces, and be comfortable with it? e.g. either MacOS + Linux, or I guess MacOS + Windows? Or will it be annoying forever?
