Winnipeg-based autonomous welding robotics company TetraGen Robotics has raised $1.8 million CAD in seed round funding.

Founded in 2022 by former University of Manitoba Intelligent Digital Manufacturing Lab founder Matt Khoshdarregi, TetraGen’s tech combines the traditional chassis of a welding robot with proprietary AI software and machine vision. The company markets its robots as being “manual programming-free,” meaning they do not require humans to set up complex welding instructions and can automatically generate programming to adapt to real-world circumstances.

Autonomous robots, sometimes called “cobots,” are increasingly common in industrial welding, with the Canadian Welding Bureau updating its official standards in 2025 to reflect the change. Likewise, many post-secondary institutions now include robotics in their curriculum. As Canada looks towards a shortage of skilled trades workers in welding, robotic systems are seen as a way to bridge the gap.

Cyclosporiasis is caused by Cyclospora cayetanensis, a single-celled parasite that lives exclusively in humans and causes particularly violent and long-lasting diarrhea. Infection is almost always through ingesting food or water contaminated with feces containing cyclospora oocysts; these take many days to become infectious, so person-to-person transmission is very unlikely.

In an American context, cyclosporiasis outbreaks are almost always caused by improper sanitation at farms or food processing facilities. Farmers around the world routinely refuse to provide adequate toilet or handwashing facilities for their workers if they think they can get away with it, to save money.

PS:

IMO we're going to see quality control issues in every single American export. I would be extremely wary of using medications or medical devices produced in the USA. With no government entities enforcing regulations we have to assume corners will be cut at the expense of quality and safety.

Wanted to share how happy my pup was with the treats and food toppers from Shades of Gray.

She is a picky eater and tends to avoid eating her breakfast. Using the topper, she has been gobbling down her food! The treat sticks have also helped her cope with the indignities of bath time.

Highly recommend for dog owners out there. Looks like they have cat treats too!
