Anti-gratitude thread

The delayed phase sleep syndrome I'm dealing with. Even when I've woken up early and gotten shit sleep, I can't seem to fall asleep early. Going to the pharmacy to get my hands on some schedule 3 meds.

I wish toast stayed hotter for longer. It's so often cold. I am ungrateful for lukewarm toast.

I'm gonna make meatballs and I don't appreciate having to stick my hands in cold cold meat. It makes me feel icky.

How do you even get diagnosed with DSPD in this country? I always get Drs and psychiatrists telling me to go to sleep earlier and be very dismissive when I ask for sleep tests done. Normal sleeping pills don't work at all for me, the best tools I have are agomelatine, clonidine, and cannabis (all taken together if I need to force a sleep bc of society).

Anyways, I'm not grateful for dismissive doctors who think I am trying to get pills off of them to abuse. Also fuck my sleeping disorder!

Yes fuck your sleep disorder :(

I didn't get diagnosed with it, but I think I have a delayed phase thing going on. It might not be disorder level, because I'm not sleeping at a mega ridiculous time, but my rhythm is just kinda in shock and I haven't been to sleep before midnight probably in about two years.

I think it's more a bad habit per se. Although no matter what time I wake up one day, I will still not be able to fall asleep. It's strange.

I've only tried melatonin (gives me poor quality sleep) and weed (give me poor quality bank balance) for my DSPD. Is there anything else you might recommend?

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I notice that I tend to have bad dreams more often when I take melatonin, but I'm not sure whether that's an actual side effect or just a case of getting better quality sleep, and for longer. What dose did you take?

[–] DolphinLundgrin@aussie.zone 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Melatonin is 5mg, doctor then suggested I crush it, which surprised my GP. I don't dream either way though.

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 1 points 3 months ago

Ah right. I was prescribed 2mg capsules, but permitted to take 2 of them if 1 didn't work. These days though, I've gone down to 1mg tablets, and I take another if need be. I find that if I take over 4mg I get very groggy, and sometimes struggle to sleep the more I have. I took 7mg once (bad night), and the next day I could barely function.

That said, I know a dude who takes 15mg, which just seems truly excessive. But it's mostly unregulated in the US, so they just gladly sell 20 or 30mg tablets. more than 30mg seems to be considered dangerous, or at least risky, although it doesn't seem to have been well tested.

I haven't tried any medications for it, but yesterday anotherspringchicken recommend restavit or phenergan

[–] kudra@aus.social 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

@LowExperience2368 @DolphinLundgrin I ended up using Restavit too often and decided I needed to try something else. I now have a script for Endep (amitriptyline) which is safe to take long term if needed, it really helps me sleep.

Thanks @kudra@aus.social and @LowExperience2368@aussie.zone for the info, might have to pick this conversation back up with my doctor. Cheers!

I am ungrateful for it being really hard to get replacement brushes for my robovac. It’s cheaper to get a whole new unit of a different brand. Intentional Design obsolescence pisses me off!

Ungrateful that my filling seems to get really painful when I eat/drink anything hot or cold. I think eating dinner is what brought on the pain yesterday. Had similar pain today after I drunk some cold water and let it over to the left side of my mouth. Apparently I just need to avoid eating anything warmer than room temperature for the next 2 weeks, when apparently it'll fix itself πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

That sounds like the nerve is irritated. Not fun, but at least it means your tooth is still alive and you don't need to go down the whole root canal route.

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 2 points 3 months ago

Yeah. I think I've mentioned it before, but I'm super thrilled that my teeth aren't fucked beyond repair. I'm pretty good about brushing my teeth at least once a day now, but I went an extremely long time with only sporadic teeth brushing. I'm sure I'll end up paying for that in the future

(Wtf Medicare, cover tooth and psychological care better you gronks)
