There's stuff that crosses boundaries though, especially when it comes to US news.
For example:
A US soldier crossed the border into North Korea and is now being held captive.

US news? World news? Both? Neither?
Neither, it is not relevant to anyone outside of the states.
Well it's immediately relevant to NK, SK. And USA.. pretty global if you ask me. Oh and maybe Russia, China, Japan, Philippines, etc. Need to fill headlines with hot topics anyways.
As if anything will happen over this. They'll probably just exchange him or get him out via diplomacy.
Oh I'm with you, it's a filler story but nothing substantial.
We include stories for world politics in relation to US Politics such as that one.
