Day 1 was a barn burner. I personally think Day 2 was fine, but not to the same level. We'll see where day 3 takes us!

Scheduled speakers:

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/dnc-lineup-speakers-schedule-kamala-harris-b2599581.html

"As is customary, Harris’s running mate will take to the podium on day three.

Tim Walz will formally accept the party’s nomination just 15 days after he was unveiled as Harris’s pick, completing his whirlwind rise to international fame.

The day’s other high-profile speakers will include 42nd president Bill Clinton, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Former VP hopefuls Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro will also take to th stage, along with Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Another Republican, Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan, is set to join the speaking roster."

Please let this be the end of the Clinton dynasty. Just F OFF already!

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

OK, real talk... What dynasty?

No seriously, what fucking dynasty?

Bill Clinton was president. Hillary Clinton - who is not his descendant and has her own successes from before and after his presidency - has every right to her own career. Their daughter has shown no interest in becoming a politician.

So... what dynasty? Where are the multiple generations of Clinton politicians dominating some aspect of American life? Is there also an Obama dynasty, consisting solely of Barack and Michelle Obama? Their kids don't seem interested in politics right now, either.

You're not angry because Hillary Clinton has her own career and ambitions, are you? Because telling the "Clinton dynasty" to "F OFF" sure seems like you're just angry at a "dynasty" of a single married couple.

Hillary should forever be clowned on. She literally gave the world a Trump presidency. Her ego got us into this mess.

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

By winning the party's nomination and running for president? The fact that she failed to beat Trump doesn't mean she didn't try.

Or wait... Are you one of those conspiracy theorists who thinks the DNC stole the nomination from Bernie? Bernie supporters stole the nomination from Bernie - and I say that as someone who freaking loves Bernie Sanders and voted for him in the primaries. With all the loud, public demonstrations they did in 2016, you know what they didn't do? They didn't 1) fucking register as Democrats, and 2) fucking vote in the primaries. Clinton won the primaries in a landslide.

I have a good friend who worked for the Democratic party in Oregon. He strongly supported Bernie, too. But somehow, all his pleas to his fellow Bernie-or-bust types to actually register as Democrats for Oregon's closed primaries fell on deaf ears. They preferred to march in the streets instead of march to the ballot dropbox and make a fucking difference.

The Democratic party stopped a non-Democrat from getting their nomination?

Holy fucking shit! Crime of the century! How DARE the Democratic party ensure a Democrat was the Democratic party's nominee for President!

Independent. Not Democrat. The Democrats throw him bones because he caucuses with them.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world -5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oprah said tonight she's a registered independent. Do you Dems still want her vote or not?

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Oprah has nothing to do with the fact that Bernie is not and has not been a Democrat.

Stop whatabouting.

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, so the Democratic establishment stopped Bernie supporters from voting in Democratic primaries? No? And your response was a non sequitur?

Here's how this conversation has gone so far:

  • You: Clinton dynasty!
  • Me: One generation consisting of two people who aren't even related isn't a dynasty.
  • You: (Topic change) Fuck responding to your point, I'm just here to hate on Clinton cheating her way into the nomination and giving us Trump!
  • Me: She didn't give us Trump, and you sound like a conspiracy theorist. Clinton didn't cheat, she literally just got way more votes in the 2016 primaries because her voters showed up and Bernie's didn't.
  • You: (Topic change) Fuck responding to your point, here's an Instagram post that pushes my favorite conspiracy theories about the DNC, none of which acknowledge that Clinton's voters turned up and Bernie's didn't!
  • Me: Just gonna point out that the DNC didn't stop Bernie's supporters from voting.
  • You: (Topic change) I said, fuck responding to your point, here's a random video from some guy arguing that both parties are the same!

Since that's how this has gone, here's my last response on this thread:

  • Me: Why hasn't literally everyone blocked this guy yet? Well, I guess I'll do my part.

I cordially invite you to reassess how you interact with people, but you've lost the opportunity to do that with me. Bye.

I guarantee you didn’t vote for her. You’re the reason Trump exists

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world -5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

I'm not a Democrat nor Republican. I live in Los Angeles. I don't vote for warmongers. I'm proud that I morally did not vote for Hillary.

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hillary gave the world a Trump presidency!

Well what did you do to stop a Trump presidency?

Fucking nothing and I'm proud of it!

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world -5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm in California. Didn't matter who I voted for

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Sounds like Hillary did more to stop a Trump presidency than you'd suggest.

It's too bad Berniebros love Bernie so much that when he endorsed Clinton they couldn't even be bothered to listen to him.

Except sully herself by stepping foot in those icky swing states.
