There is something blackly hilarious about how many vegans are insisting they should be able to feed a cat vegan diets if they really really want to. (Blowup in outoftheloop)

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Those people need to own rabbits. Or preferably no animals at all because they lack any sort of clue.

And if you disagree with them on the viability of vegan diets and cats you're 'emotionally invested in them being wrong'

Just...dude. Don't own a fucking cat. Millions do it.

It's like they don't care about the fact that cats are obligate carnivores.

Edit: in fact, they don't even know what 'obligate carnivore' means.

There's slews of 'em going 'but supplements and this single study that mostly looked at dogs said it was ok!!'

Like....jesus. They're trying to force an animal to go against its nature to suit their personal preferences and they do not see the hypocrisy. Get a fucking parrot you twonks

Love to see their reaction to chickens demolishing any rat they find!

A mouse in a chook pen is like the scarabs eating that dude in The Mummy. it's fucking terrifying

Bugs!? I hate bugs!

My dog loves cucumber. But goes crazy for big meaty bones. Lettuce and celery result in a dog equivalent of a death stare. I’m sure he would throw them back at me if he could πŸ˜‚

A long ago cat thought carrot greens were LSD! She still ate meat including an unfortunate quantity of the local lizard population.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

One of my previous dogs loved vegetables and was a menace in the vegetable garden. She was particularly fond of tomatoes and broccoli/cauliflower - she loved to munch on a sun-warmed broccoli leaf in the afternoons, and would over time eat the whole plant. She also taught my other dog to do the same. Fortunately Mr Woof is much more restrained.

Punkin was an absolute grass whore. It made him barf everywhere and occasionally we ended up with anal beads of poop and grass but god damn that boy was gonna reload and nothing could stop him

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 2 months ago

Same with my dog. Not even a bit of carrot which a lot of dogs love.

The whole point of these restrictive diets is to go against nature.

It's to weaken the body so that the spirit can take better control and live a purer life.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This applies to cats? Good luck making any cat live a purer life.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I aspire to the purity of a cats life. Abject hedonism and if you don't understand something, smack it.

They're the types to give vegans a bad name.

[–] neurospice@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago

I can't believe how much outrage there has been over this. It seems to be making rounds on the entirety of lemmy every couple days

[–] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Hi! I'm the mod that started this all! I think everyone who uses the phrase "obligate carnivore" is outing themselves as a complete buffoon since it has literally 0 application to whether or not it is possible, which would be obvious if people looked up the definition.

But of course, that would be expecting a lot from people :)

Hope that's oil or margarine on that popcorn! Chicken salt is fine though, amusingly it has no chicken in it. Weird name huh?

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Margarine should only be used as axel grease. Good afternoon.

[–] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

I used to agree, but nuttlex buttery is actually quite good!

although personally don't add fat to much, being an enthusiastic cook that is growing sideways a little more than I ought to.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

...nah mate. You're literally putting your desires over the animal's needs. It's the same egotistical "animals must serve the desires of man" schtick that veganism arose in rejection of.

Miss me with that bullshit.

[–] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 months ago

soz but are the animals killed for the cat food not equally deserving of life and happiness as a cat?
