Bad news about the doors confirmed. They can't temporarily install my old door handle or lock onto this new door because it doesn't meet modern fire safety requirements. Apparently the new locks will be the same locks we had in Resi - a simple latch that can be very easily opened, and they're going to place a metal plate over it to prevent people slipping cards or things to open the lock from the outside
I guess that's a solution, but it feels like yet another step towards making the house feel exactly like the place I was at before. I guess on the bright side, I'm only 6 months away from turning 18. Once I do that, I can GTFO if I want, although practically I'm almost forced to stay for another 6-12 months until I can move elsewhere.
I suspect once the opportunity to book hotel rooms opens up, I'll take a lot more spontaneous Mildura or Adelaide trips
that is a great expressive pic
Ikr. Apparently the requirements only apply to new installations. Interestingly though, they replaced my last deadbolt lock with the same type of deadbolt lock after the other kid had shoved a pair of scissors into my lock, and it didn't silly then, despite the fact that that was put in the bin and replaced with a new lock
As I understand it though, the deadbolt locks aren't the problem. The problem is that they often require a dual action (unlocking the lock then opening the door handle). Don't ask me what they can't just not install a door handle - they won't elaborate. But that's what I've been told
