If it's any consolation, the 3g network is going under maintenance in the city tomorrow from 10pm until the 6th at 6am, so there'll be no more service at all unless they've put the 4/5g back on by then

Oops, I meant 3g. Managed to fat finger it into 2g!

3g hasn't shut down yet (iirc H+ is just rebranded 3g with a couple of perks), but Telstra has a fun little countdown page, similar to a Christmas countdown, where they tell you down to the second when they'll be crippling your old phones!

3G, H and H+ displayed on your phone is still just 3G. H+ is faster though.

It's just different standards of the same technology.
