What's your knockoff brand that is better than (or just as good) as the name brand?
What's your name brand for which there is no substitute?
Aldi chocolate is typically 10X better than the cadbury stuff, but these days a cadbury block on sale for 3 bucks is better value. Know its not what you mean, but still technically accurate to your question: I like Kia better than Hyundai. Hyundai are a bit uninspired. I also prefer Mitsubishi to Nissan.
Another vote for the Aldi chocolate range which is incredible and leagues ahead of Cadbury and just about anything you can get from the Colesworth shelves. Maybe Lindt is a contender but like 3x more expensive than the Aldi stuff.
Coles 1kg tasty cheese is the best of the cheap cheeses.
Yep, agree with you on this one.
What is "cheap cheese" in Melbourne? In 2016, it was $10/kg for the cheap cheese. In Perth, you can reliably get cheese for $8.50/kg. It went up for a while last year to ~$10ish but has come back down recently to $8.50 again.
My theory is dairy goods in general are cheaper here because we have competing local companies.
By cheap cheese, I'm referring to the house brands of Aldi/Coles/Woolies. Aldi is the worst, there's something wrong with that cheese.
Aldi pasta, I think it's Remono or something. Cooks just as well and comes out perfectly al dente just like the more expensive Barilla brand.
Also I love their organic pasta sauce because it's cheap and it's so tasty.
the aldi pasta absolutly SLAPS!
It's awesome, I love it!
Aldi goat cheese, both the sliced and spreadable is hard to beat. I will not compromise on Omo washing powder.
Milk. Milk is milk. I'm getting the cheapest one possible.
Lurpak. Nothing else comes close.
Aldi cream cheese (Westacre brand I think), better than any of the name brands at Woolies. The consistency is just right.
The Aldi Yogo is delicious. So much better than the original, which is already pretty good.
Woolies or Aldi peanut butter. Woolies, Aldi or Coles soy milk bricks. Coles and Aldi dark chocolate.
Uhhβ¦ generally it involves needing to buy brand because the generic contains an allergen or causes a reaction. So Balnea sorbolene bar βsoapβ and Cerave pump lotion.
Casio G-Shock is a name brand that is still very much trustworthy and consistent.
The other Biscoff spread....Specloos or something like that. Much better than the proper one.
Nothing beats OG Nutella. Taking it a step further, Nutella made in Italy is the best.
Horrified by the sugar content in Nutella, I bought the kids Nutino instead (12% sugar instead of 54%) when they were little. They now much prefer this brand to the original. Which has turned around and bitten me in the end as Nutino isn't always in stock when/where I need it.
Oh I know full well why Nutella tastes so good. I'll have a small spoon of it rarely and that hits the spot.
Coles/Woolies or whatever is cheapest bottled water vs Mount Franklin or any other fancy brand. The cheap ones are fine. I don't even know if they still sell Evian here but Evian tastes weird. So does NestlΓ©'s one whatever that's called. Obligatory Fuck NestlΓ©.
Don't come at me with "just drink tap water it's great in Melbourne".. I do when I'm home.. but I also go on road trips to places with less-than-amazing tap water and/or no chilled water.
