The fact that it's this close speaks volumes of the US population.

It is also how biased the US electoral system is to maintain the Status Quo.

Every time the Republicans get in, the cripple democracy a little bit at a time. When the Democrats get in, they don’t do anything to roll back the damage.

It has finally come to the Endgame for US Democracy.

All we can do is make sure that our elected officials are aware that it is not something that we want in Australia.

Have a friend who studied world history throughout uni. His statement about this is 'All empires must fall'. This is the fall.

USA has been going down the toilet for some time, and the turds getting bigger.

I'm gonna switch off the US crap and focus on our local (milder) shitshow.

thinking on it I am not surprised

for 100 years the press and influencers have been making race an issue as a distraction to class , money and opportunity issues ( to stop the working class uniting , and yes, race is an issue )

the working class have genuine grievances and want a voice, sadly trump says he is their voice ( even tho that's a lie )

they don't want to hear more race issues

we need unity

I don't disagree, but the GOP and Trump have not been the voice of the working class. The fact that enough people have been convinced that they are, is just sad.

This election was also about women issues, and that fell on deaf ears.

The media has a lot of responsibility for this shit show.

but fairness!! S/

the press are either cowards or love the money the drama of trump brings

in the meantime the independent voices in the media are getting shut down

just look at the drama of trying to bring this sub on lemmy under "control"

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah the whole 'fairness' thing is a load of crap. With the election one side (generally the leftish leaning one) has to be perfect and spotless, meanwhile the other side might a slap on the wrist over something terrible.

One reason I love the ABC and SBS here. The only reason they appear to lean 'left' is because they report facts and don't favour either party, generally. It's just one side of politics tends to be shittier than the other.

What do you mean about this sub and lemmy?
