It's more the gateway drug into factorio i think. Never played any of these but that's what i've heard.

Naw, Rimworld is like Dwarf Fortress, nothing like Factorio

They have an overlapping fan base, but they're distinctly different games. I prefer RimWorld, personally, but I have put many hours into Factorio, as well.
