I haven't given it a chance yet, but thanks for the nudge. I should keep a more open mind.
I wasn't interested and walked away half way through the first episode, but my wife kept watching. That got me to give it another try. It changes dramatically after the first episode. That's the only episode where they're kids. The show spans decades, and time jumps quickly.
