My car insurance renewal came in with an increase of over 25% so I'm getting to spend the morning getting quotes for alternatives.

Youi just crossed themselves off my list with a bait and switch process - the online form says they will email you a quote, then asks for a phone number just to send you a PIN. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, gave the number and it goes straight to them phoning me instead. Lying to me to get personal details is not something that makes me want to deal with a company.

I’ve seen Suncorp offering better deals on cars than RACV recently.

They are currently the winner - I can get comprehensive insurance through them cheaper than the RACV third party. Weirdly RACV are quoting me a lower price for third party fire and theft than just straight third party property which covers less!

RACV got their asses kicked by AAMI for us this year. to be fair, AAMI also crushed Budget Direct. The real irony being a MY23 ~$45k SUV was substantially cheaper than the MY~10 $8k Hatchback.

I mean, I know the safety tech and all that, and the hatch is a known p plater car. But seriously. You guys are gonna screw me on a market value of it anyway, meanwhile you'd be stuck buying me a brand new SUV if i managed to write it off.

None of these quotes make sense! RACV are quoting cheaper for 3rd party if I add fire and theft to it. Suncorp is quoting me cheaper for a basic comprehensive policy than for third party.

AAMI was the cheapest for me. I just want enough insurance to not ruin my life if I tap a $150k car. I've got front/rear dash cams too.

I just did AAMI quotes, and they are now winning as well. Weirdly I think it will be better to go with comprehensive than third party only with them too.
