I've never played Magic and I have no idea what this means, but it's the perfect analogy.
The game has different colors -- different sources of power for your deck. Blue cards are themed around trickery and messing with your opponents plans. Cancelling spells is basically a "no" to whatever your opponent is trying to play.
White is themed around order and balance. Black is power at any cost. Red is impulsive and energetic. Green is harmonious with the natural world.
Blue interacts with the fundamental fabric of reality and is absolute bullshit.

I feel like she's a blue player playing a black deck the same way she would play a blue deck.
Canceling your own spells is relatively harmless. She casts spells that negate her own moves but deal necrotic damage to everyone and everything in the game.
