It wasn't so long ago, when people tried to refute the argument that AI and robotics automation would lead to human workers being replaced, they'd say - don't worry the displaced humans can just learn to code. There will always be jobs there, right?

This just reads like a marketing pitch, honestly. "The AI that we sell is so incredible, we stopped hiring devs entirely."

The CEO knows there will absolutely be no followup if they need to hire 300 devs this year anyway, so why not pretend they wont hire and use that as a sales pitch?

Might even be a way to lowball new employees too... "We don't really need you, we have the AI, you're just here to babysit." :/
