These brain-computer interfaces are usually discussed in the context of disabled and paralyzed people,  but I wonder what they could do for regular people as well.  It's interesting here to see how quickly the brain adapts to brand-new sensory information from the computer interface,  it makes you wonder what new ways we could interact with computers that we haven't thought of.

I remember seeing some thing on Nova years ago where they gave people a small brain implant that allowed them to intuitively find magnetic north the way birds do then had the group with the implants blind folded and told to walk in as straight of a line as they could, vs a control group with no implant. The group with the implant was able to stay perfectly straight, while the group without had trouble staying in a straight line.

They could straight up give you new senses with these things.

I think most are focusing on the computer reading the brain. Input from a computer probably scares most people who deal with it all. A Dream in terms of what could be done but also a nightmare, "my interface is hacked and unless I give my pass codes over for my bank I can't see or hear normally"

In Altered Carbon they use it to torture and interrogate people. The can cut their arms and legs off, do anything they want to them, kill them, bring them back and start over. It's truly horrendous.
