Summary

Mexico is waiting for a new response from Google regarding its mapping service's use of "Gulf of America" in the U.S., while displaying "Gulf of Mexico" in Mexico.

President Claudia Sheinbaum warned that Google will face a lawsuit if it doesn’t restore the original name, arguing it violates Mexico’s sovereignty over 49% of the Gulf. The U.N. also recognizes the historic name.

Google defended its policy, saying it followed longstanding mapping practices after Trump’s renaming declaration amidst rising tensions between Mexico and the U.S.

The issue has also sparked press freedom concerns in the U.S.

Fighting corruption should never be seen as a waste of time or money. No one likes to be the first to stand up, it's easier to join an existing group. Google and Trump need to be shown that the rest of the world won't go along with their bullshit.

The problem is, this is the least of the problems posed by Trump, and we need all the energy focused on the shit he does that's much more egregious. The Gulf of America is a distraction and Trump is doing it exactly on purpose to waste people's energy on pointless shit and make them lose sight of what matters.

This is what Steve Bannon calls "flooding the zone": come up with 3 outrageous items per day so people can only deal with one and let the two others pass. I suggest that we should deal with the Gulf of America later, after we're done dealing with the destruction of the country, is what I meant.
