Yes, it's a very effective propaganda style popularized unsurprisingly by Stalin and Mussolini. Just like constantly so fact checks just bleed into each other and people stop trying to keep up, then just jam media full of random shit to freak out about. Maybe they pick something that's a real issue but more likely they'll just lead with whatever is most salacious.
