Is this only for iOS so far? Not seeing it on f-droid or play store.

You can download apk from the 'Releases' tab on the codeberg page.

Oh thanks for the tip! I didn't even realize there was a codeberg link in the post.

Yeah there is a apk link you can just download and run also.

This will install the app without any app store.

You can also throw the releases page URL into obtainium and toggle to include pre-releases and it'll notify you of any updates/install them.

Wow, that's quite useful.

Yeah, I'm also still waiting for anything other than Jerboa to finally show up on F-Droid.

I'm kinda picky about installing stuff on my phone (especially from untrustworthy sources like Google Play), and I like the additional vetting F-droid package maintainers do. Does "IzzyOnDroid" do similar vetting, or is it just grabbing whatever from upstream and distributing it without human intervention?

The IzzyOnDroid Inclusion Policy is very similar to F-droid's, just slightly less strict.
If you want further details check IzzyOnDroid Index.

I just upgraded to Infinity, but I was previously using Liftoff which was on F-Droid and worked great!

[–] grue@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm searching F-droid for it but not seeing Liftoff. I tried searching both via the app itself and via https://duckduckgo.com/?q=liftoff+site%3Afdroid.org

Weird! Well, I technically use Droidify so maybe that's the reason? Either way, I also recommend Droidify to F-Droid because of security issues so try Droidify and then also try Liftoff if you'd like.

Droidify includes IzzyOnDroid Repo by default amongst others.

There's no real security difference between Droidify & F-droid or any other Popular FOSS F-droid client. They just serve a GUI to the same backend and servers.
