Whenever I try to launch Mafia: Definitive Edition on Steam, the game will start but display nothing, yet still play the intro sound. The game is just a transparent window.

A few months earlier I was able to fix the error by changing something in the video config files of the game, but that solution wasn’t perfect either, the game would crash every time I alt-tabbed.

I’ve tried using Proton Experimental and GE, and I’ve also tried verifying the game files. I’m on the latest Fedora and use Steam Flatpak. I have an AMD GPU.

Likewise, I hope someone can help me figure out the issue and help me resolve it.

Maybe it's an Wayland issue, try launching the game(s) in gamescope.

gamescope %command%

Or switch to X if you want.

I tried using gamescope again but with passing some flags, which I found on protondb

eval $(echo gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -r 165 -f -- "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/mafiadefinitiveedition.exe'/")

Thanks for suggesting that, but it unfortunately didn't work and the problem hasn't changed
