Why do they need to specify that he's alive? Was that being called into question before?

Yeah, for awhile now. It's just speculation, but people are being sent to a foreign torture camp.

That's the first thing that stuck out to me as well. I don't remember seeing anyone wondering about that.

Also brings up the general question of how many of those sent out to the same bullshit have died in custody?

People have been wondering if the reason they haven't brought him back yet is because he's dead and the Trump Administration is really exactly being the most reassuring right now
