I just came here to say that "Mayday" is actually* a distortion of the French "m'aider" (help me) and has nothing to do with the holiday.

Not that it doesn't make sense in this case. Power to the people. And I hope there is some way we can help.

“Moar” is actually a corruption of the French “m’oar”, meaning “paddle me”.

I believe it's actually middle English
