America is a joke.

The rest of the world is actively rejecting your bullshit, and you are going to be worse off for it.

[-] calabast@lemm.ee 103 points 1 year ago

THANKS WE KNOW THAT PART, CAN YOU TELL US HOW TO FIX IT?

[-] DrFistington@lemmy.world 81 points 1 year ago
[-] theparadox@lemmy.world 49 points 1 year ago

To be fair, Trump is not the source of the problem. He's a Heritage Foundation puppet, and those psychos kind of have people everywhere right now.

[-] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 26 points 1 year ago

He's a pretty big catalyst though

[-] notfromhere@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 year ago
[-] BeNotAfraid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

He's a patsy, I'm grateful that at least it isn't Vance. Could you imagine a tyrant funded by Billionaires that wasn't in cognitive decline?

[-] theparadox@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The will and the resources have been there trying to move in this direction for a long time. I do agree that he's absolutely fast tracked the process. His complete disregard for civility, shameless willingness to grift, and transparently transactional nature have enabled the absolute worst in us. From hateful, racist poor folks to deranged religious nutjobs to narcissistic billionaires - they've all been given the green light now.

I just hope that everyone takes note of which side people are on and, when this is all over, make sure that the memory of those who stood on the wrong side of history are so shamed, ostracized, disgraced, and hated that this shit doesn't happen again.

Haven't you had gun nuts banging on about what you do in this scenario for decades?

[-] Rhaedas@fedia.io 33 points 1 year ago

The ones that would be classified as gun nuts are the same ones that are fine with what he's doing. Except when the leopard goes after them.

[-] 9point6@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Oh for sure, I completely understand that. But that's just because they don't have the spine to actually bite their bark—theory-wise though, it's a pretty sound plan to end tyranny and people with more backbone could freely follow it.

[-] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 year ago

Their banging on was always more about racism. Their definition of tyrannical government is "government with gays, trans, women, and brown people in charge."

[-] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 39 points 1 year ago

This is the only idea I've had so far

[-] roserose56@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Apart from that, they can storm the capitol and stay there until he resigns.
But since this won't happen any time soon, we have to see millions more posts about trump.

[-] DrFistington@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Take that, and replace the blade with a giant boulder, then we're talking

[-] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I do like the idea of more pain and fear before death.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 26 points 1 year ago

We already know and various users from other countries have very explicitly told us. We're just waiting for more answers palatable to us because most of us aren't willing to risk anything.

[-] calabast@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

I assume you mean having the citizens rise up and overthrow the government? Problem is, if you try to do that in your own, you'll get arrested/killed without really stopping anything, and if you try to organize with people online, you're really likely to be get arrested before you can pull it off. So I think it's not quite as easy as "we know how to fix it we're just lazy and scared"

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago

Well one person was pretty darn close to solving the whole issue but they kind of faltered at the last moment.

[-] Shiggles@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 year ago

solving the whole issue

Trump’s inevitable death won’t solve the issues that caused him. I don’t know what will. We’d have to go pretty far down the chain of succession to hit “not a fascist”.

[-] BigxRedxHusker@midwest.social 11 points 1 year ago

You would have to ban podcasting, youtube, blogs, and fox news.

I was at a hardware store today and behind the employees at counter was a TV that blares fox 24/7.

I couldn't take it for 2 minutes

[-] Charapaso@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I was just on a flight and saw a dude across the aisle that was mainlining all the worst people on twitter. Space laser lady, the racist cat, the nazi automaker...this dude was just liking everything and replying frantically. He was flipping through everything and replying so quickly that I felt pity as much a loathing. It was absolutely pathetic. Dude's brain is melted.

[-] BigxRedxHusker@midwest.social 3 points 1 year ago

I left x which sucks because blue sky doesn't have the sports reporters I follow or not nearly the amount of other interests.

Who's the space laser lady besides MTG?

[-] Charapaso@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Oh that's her, I was just trying to be insulting haha

[-] FaceDeer@fedia.io 6 points 1 year ago

Well, go down that chain, then. Haven't they been going on for generations about how their second amendment is for exactly this situation?

Solving the underlying issues are important too, of course, but that's a long term solution. I'd like to see a short-term patch be applied before America literally launches wars of conquest against its neighbours.

[-] Nougat@fedia.io 9 points 1 year ago

I hear what you're saying, but Little t is a symptom, just like Hitler was a symptom.

It's like "Goddamn it, I wish my stomach didn't hurt all the time." Doctor: "You have pancreatric cancer."

Yeah but Harris winning would have least bought us some time it's too bad she couldn't stick the landing.

[-] Nougat@fedia.io 9 points 1 year ago

The cancer is more advanced than we had imagined.

[-] Nougat@fedia.io 3 points 1 year ago

You know, it puts a smile on my face every time, that someone recognizes me.

[-] SreudianFlip@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Remember to visit the range on windy days, folks.

I would say politicians are using the rise in anti American sentiment to solidify their positions in more nationalist forms of government. I would warn my comrades in the west. This rise in nationalism can be dangerous. Even if it is directed at being against America (which is good) it can also be leveraged to build fascist policies in your own country. Be wary of your "liberal" politicians and parties. They likely do not have your best interest at heart. They know material conditions will decline with the fall of the American empire. They will do everything they can to keep their power. And they'll do it off the backs of your working class.

Do not substitute class solidarity for Nationalism. Tarrifs are a direct attack on the working class of the world. We pay those. No matter what country we reside in.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Trump is a joke. And so is the majority of American voters circa 2024. Don't confuse the situation, however, or you're just strengthening Trump.

But hey, do as you will. It's a free world, my friend. They don't control us, they just try to. Fuck the fascists, and those who would tell us how to speak, act, and think.

Yet, never live in their world, or a world of your own miscreation. We're better than him, are we not? America is not your enemy, Trump is. His power is fleeting, but you must fight him, not all of us... Or else, all is lost, and all of us lose.

Unite, my friends. Fight the villain, not the masquerade. Or don't... And find out how far down the rabbit hole we can descend. They want us divided, so you could oblige their demands. It's up to you.

[-] C45513@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Trump is just a man. Human being, meat and bone. He's a symptom of the disease that has been present and growing in the USA for a long time. I think it's a dangerous oversimplification to believe the US will be healthy once he's gone.
