Rules:

- No memes, trolling, misinformation, or low-effort posts/comments (including reposts). If you see posts like this that anger you, do not engage. Report, block, and live a happier life than they do. Any slap-fight is subject to comment removals. Fights full of rule violations will result in temporary bans to cool off.
- No manipulating votes via bots or alt accounts; this will result in permanent bans. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in an account ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be permanently banned.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules and use critical thinking when reading, posting, and commenting. Users that repeatedly have comments or posts removed, weaponize reports, or violate the code of conduct, will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. Absolutely not, at least not online. People do not accept apologies, they will brand you based on that action, no matter how much you apologize. I mean, just look at some big example like pewdiepie who had a few (admittedly tasteless) moments in 2017, apologized for it multiple times but is still framed as nazi to this day.
apologies don’t mean you’re sorry… people that express a sincere point of view, are called out on their shit take, and then apologise to save face are still pieces of shit: they didn’t apologise because they realised the things they said were wrong; they apologised because they got called out and want to fix it
i’m not saying that apologies from public figures can’t be sincere, but the bar is pretty damn high because what they stand to lose by not apologising is so large that people tend to take a hit to their ego - saying something they don’t mean - rather than express their true feelings
So you want people to apologize, but don't believe them when they do?
nope i’m saying that every apology is not equivalent… simply saying you’re sorry isn’t enough… they need to have learned their mistake, not just that they got hurt and wish they didn’t
And who's the judge of apologies? Who determines which apology is enough? How can you tell they haven't learned?
