Canada should not have backed down until deal was done IMHO
A done deal means absolutely nothing when it's negotiated with a serial liar who will tear it up when the mood strikes him.
3.5 more years... We all just got to survive
I think that's very wishful thinking - Trump isn't the disease, he's just the figurehead and symptom. And that's assuming that there will be a free and fair election, which is a very big assumption as fascists don't tend to like elections. They're going to be a dangerous, unstable country for a long time.
Not just that but if he isn't dead he ain't going nowhere in three more years.
