guy puts templar cross in his profile, likely first to die of disease and exhaustion if he actually participated in middle age crusades

I love how they automatically assume they would be high ranking knights drinking wine in the tent whereas they would likely be the cannon fodder.

Peasants didn't really fight in the crusades, it was mostly noble families throwing second and third sons along with mercenary forces. Chances are they would live and die in a village they weren't likely to leave often if ever. Ie. They wouldn't even have been important enough to fight and die for God let alone read.
