I always find these funny, I know the intent but so very rarely is it helpful. I’m probably just too dumb to figure it out

Yeah but remember the R is an upside and backwards lowercase r sound. Not a standard R sound
That's because the English r sound is a weird one.

It's really really useful if you're a linguist, a certain kind of autistic, or willing to consult the IPA chart and sound out a bunch of common words
There's probably a site somewhere where you paste it and it gives you the sound.
Google translate seems to not have the phonetic alphabet, but there's probably something out there that has it.
