There's no benefit in ceding ground preemptively. I don't suspect he'll actually cancel the election so much as make it even less fair that usual to avoid the risk of losing, but either way, convincing everyone that this is what he will do, before he does it, just means that when it happens people won't get as mad about it because it'll be "old news" in their heads anyway.

There is: If you know there will be no fair elections, you know you need to find another way of resisting fascism. It seems many are banking on a blue wave to come and save the day in the midterms, so the knowledge that this won't and can't happen is important.

If voting for The Democratic Party was going to fix anything, there wouldn't have been a second Trump term in the first place.

Just because one doctor doesn't fix all your issues, doesn't mean you go home and shoot yourself in the foot.

There's a distinct difference between not fixing all of one's problems and making those problems worse.

Blue wave in the midterms is just one sandbag in the wall that would need to be built to stop the flood of fascism.

Blue wave is a possible (and frankly, terrible) day-after plan. There will be no midterms in any real sense of the word unless fascism is stopped.

it will probablay a blue wave, but it will be so weakened by all the cuts, tariffs, that the dems will just take the blame for trumps damage , and then it will be right back where we started. plus the BBB will soon be in effect.

And giving up is way easier, too. Don't forget that. I know I'm exhausted just watching from afar.
