An aerial image of Gaza’s port during the Israeli offensive reveals the massive destruction compared to before.

If you ever saw old photos of Afghanistan, it was beautiful and people enjoyed themselves in the parks and beaches. Then came Russia. Then #USA really flattened it, and taught farmers how to survive growing poppies.
I got a story about what they did in Kabul, and shortly afterwards, my source supposedly committed suicide.

It seems everything is tainted lately, but that's not new. It goes back through 50 years of hell.

@hologram

Before Russians, came Saudi/Pakistani/CIA backed Islamist terrorists working on destroying socialist government of Taraki.

Don't forget that.

Regret what? That secret operation was an excellent idea. It had the effect of drawing the Russians into the Afghan trap and you want me to regret it? The day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter. We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam war. Indeed, for almost 10 years, Moscow had to carry on a war unsupportable by the government, a conflict that brought about the demoralization and finally the breakup of the Soviet empire. Zbigniew Brzezinski

@faab64 @palestine@lemmy.ml @palestine@fedibird.com Not in the early 70s. That's where those happy pictures are from.
Yes, it was Brzezinski, and he thought he was doing great work. Individuals from the #CIA bragged about this new "Golden Triangle"
I don't know about Taraki, but that should be easy to find.

@hologram

Well, Taraki was the first socialist leader of Afghanistan that gave equal rights to all women in Afghanistan, not just Kabul. He wasn't a communist, as CIA portrayed him to the world (Wikipedia still does) and did a lot of good before he was removed by a radical extreme communist (many say he was an MI5 recruit) who closed mosques, attacked elders and religious institutes paving the way for Mujahedin to use it as ground for declaring Jihad against them.

Thank you for the information. You must not have been educated in #USA This is a country where you are not allowed to own or operate a corporation unless you meet certain ideological criteria. #TikTok may be exceptional, but Who did Donald Trump's dad, Fred have for a lawyer? Maybe talk about this on December 2nd, the day of the Army-McCarthy hearings.
I am concerned whether the items in the National Archives are still there.
I can't find my story!

Goes back even further and it's kinda about imperialist dreams of global domination. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Geographical_Pivot_of_History

And the Soviet invasion was mostly a consequence of United States meddling in Operation Cyclone. Destabilization was the point.

Krasnov wanted send US troops into Afghanistan again. WTF!
