I’m having trouble with the difference between threads and microblogs/posts. I keep thinking in terms of Reddit. I know magazines would be what ‘subreddits’ are. Are threads what we see on the front page of a subreddit and but then what are posts? I read the FAQs but still confused.

Anyone able to shed some light? TY!

@Otome-chan@kbin.social so ‘threads’ are only seen by users registered on kbin.social?

@driver_pro Threads are seen by people on the "threadiverse". So lemmy users can see them, kbin users can see them, and mastodon users can sometimes see them if they look for them specifically.

For us kbinauts, the stuff that appears in "threads" is categorized for everyone so everyone knows the topic, the group, etc. Everyone is well aware that it works like stuff posted in subreddits.

the stuff that appears in "microblogs" works like twitter for most instances, but for us gets categorized into our "subreddits" (even though others don't see it like that).

Both threads and microblog posts can be seen by everyone on the fediverse, but the way they're seen is different.
