I could barely hear the bass, probably my phone's sound setting but still.

In most jazz records with an upright bass, the bass is mixed very low, which is basically in keeping with how it usually sounds live, even though the bass is almost always mic'ed nowadays. Goddamn shame IMO. Jazz with electric bass (which is usually fusion) is usually better about this.
