I mean, not to be glib but if you've summoned a taxi that hasn't shown up, you haven't summoned a taxi. That doesn't mean "Fuck it, let private rideshare apps own everything" but it's easy to see where the shift in consumer behavior might be coming from. Even in low-stakes situations, having your ride not show up is frustrating.
