It's a Belgium company now, right? Still much better then an outside EU one.

Yes, the owner is Belgian. After reunification it got sold to Belgian Melexis NV, but it’s unclear to me how closly they are still related.

X-FAB Silicon Foundries SE is located in Tessenderlo. SE means that it follows EU corporate law. Every fab is its own subsidiary company following the national corporate law. None is located in Belgium.

X-FAB Semiconductor Foundries GmbH is located in Erfurt and probably who is getting the subsidy.

Elex NV (25%; located in Belgium)
Sensinnovat BV (24.9%; located in Tessenderlo)
Sarawak Technology Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (11.4%; owhned by the government of Sarawak in Malaysia)
public shares (38.7%)
