New pebble user - any advice? (discuss.tchncs.de)

I've just preordered a Pebble Time 2. Never owned a Pebble before, and no real smart wath either (just a fitness watch).

I chose Pebble because of the Open Source concept.

Do you have any advice on what I can/should do, what software/apps are must-haves, or other Tipps?

Right, battery life was also a factor for me. My current fitness watch had five days max and is decaying... And I think other "premium" brand smart watches have like a day or two - that's unacceptable for me.
