Me too. I used to use 1990-01-01, until I noticed that suddenly people from the early 2000s are adults too.
As far as I am aware, most people are indeed born on January first.
I've been born in 1980 since I was like 12. Might graduate to being born in 1990 or 2000 if someone ever makes me scroll to the year.
