After a long time on the shelf I went back to DRG yesterday with my 16 year old, both taking unfamiliar classes. After playing Engineer near exclusively I've gone Gunner and he's gone Scout from Driller.
Ooh man I have forgotten every key, every trick, everything, and the reduced mobility of gunner is taking some getting used to, especially trying to keep up with a scout!
Still fun though. Loooong cave system for the big amber rock things.
The shield isn't meant for holding a position long-term, it's more to give you a bit of breathing room in tight spots. If you toss it out by a downed ally, it'll give you enough time to safely revive them. It's also useful if you're surrounded at low health and just need a few more seconds to clear out nearby enemies.
