Well not too much for Starfield. Back when they announced it they were comments about how their engine isn't good enough to pull off the things they were promising. It's why I didn't pre-order it.

Yes that is absolutely a valid way of approaching the problem although you do then sometimes run into the problem that the game you're trying to play is no longer supported (service been shut down left and right).
I also think it's a bit unnecessary, by all means play the classics if that's what you're into, but if you're doing it to save money, it's not as if there aren't high quality indie games being made right now, so it's not like you have to just play old games to be frugal.
Don't worry, I know of good new indie games, and I'm not playing those either.
I got it as soon as I got a GPU that could comfortably run it... because it was bundled with said GPU. I did activate the key but never bothered to actually install it. Maybe later in case the handful of modders actually make something cool in there.
I was kinda interested before launch, hoping that this would be the game to finally force them to meaningfully overhaul the engine they've been carrying around since Morrowind (with some bugs dating back to then). Of course it wasn't and of course they didn't.
Starfield is the Song that Never Ends from Barney.
Monotonous, boring, annoying, loops back into itself, overstays its welcome, may potentially drive you insane with too much consistent exposure.
Imagine needing reasons not to pre-order. I bet you pay more than €30 for games too...
Is that supposed to be some sort of personality failing?
Paying 60 dollars for modern shit AAA games is a personality failing in my book. As well as preordering any game.
Early access is borderline acceptable under certain conditions.
But I didn't pre-order it did I?
I'm really not sure what you're upset about.
Buying those games make the companies correct that gamers will buy any slop they serve.
That's why gaming today looks like it does. People put their money to the worst companies, rewarding their vile behaviour.
Diablo is a Blizzard IP
I remember being excited for Diablo 3 💀
They weren't excited for Diablo 4 for the world and story, though.
Ultima Online LOL
It ain't even Bethesda's now. EA bought them, not Bethesda, or ZeniMax, or Microsoft.
Yep. And their management is ultimately what led Richard Garriot to quit.
As a child their games where always too difficult for me, so I preferred Lucas Arts adventures but looking back at them now they had some real gems. Games with... soul
UO was pretty popular and good up until EA bought Origin in 2004.
