I tried running xev through the terminal and I can see the left click and touchpad movement but nothing when the right click is pressed and depressed.
In the "Mouse and Touchpad" settings in XFCE there is a click method option that I think is supposed to allow you to click right click when using multiple fingers but kind of like what you mentioned but that doesn't seem to work either.
I appreciate your response! I am tempted to reach out to NexDock about this but I don't know if they would have much to say considering it's not a hardware issue and no one else really seems to be talking about it.
Edit: Considering I can have touchpad's "Tap touchpad to click" and "Click method" disabled under the touchpad option and still click things I am wondering if maybe it's use a weird combination of the touchpad for movement and the mouse actual clicking. This is the 2025 version of the NexDock.
I cant speak to the 2025 refresh, but for the OG version, none of the touchpad settings will have any effect, the OS doesnt see it as a touchpad.
It sounds like it might be a hardware defect, i think contactibg nexdock is the way to go. They were helpful for my issue (dodgy touchscreen).
Thanks for the response. I doubt it is a hardware issue because I tried it with a Windows PC and it worked as expected.
It seems like it's a combination of mouse devices not cooperating when on Linux.
I suppose I could attempt to reach out to their support again to see if they are tracking this problem but I'm not sure if they would have a solution given the wide array of possible Linux configurations.
Is reinstalling your Linux from scratch an option? Maybe you've accidentally broken something?
