Honestly an applewatch might be your best bet. You can customize the readout up to a point. It might be big enough for you to read it without glasses. I track my swims and only sometimes look at them after. Never really during. I think in swimming itβs mostly useless.

Went for polar pacer pro. Absolutely no regrets. Good gdpr compliance, fantastic display and all data also on website. Can do tcx fit and gpx export. Also manage swimming quite well
I can relate to not wanting to go into it. Iβm moving on myself. Polars stuff seems nice enough. Good to know.
My polar is strong there too. I can disable displays I don't wanna see in watch mode (t.ex. i turned of music control. Will never ever use that)
You can select which sports and in which order are shown if you go to sports mode.
You can define for each sport which screens and in which order are shown in scrolling.
