World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

@hark@lemmy.world Though I probably will get downvoted for my shameless self-plug and stance against them, you should read my post on Hexbear: https://lemm.ee/post/5751850. If you don't have time to read it all, you should at least read the tl;dr and the Edit 1 near the end of the post.
So you made claims which you backed up by citing a nazi sympathizer and now you're mad because they called you out on it and hurt your feelings? Are you new to the internet? I ask because those are really mild responses and you seem like you've never encountered resistance in your life. This sums up the whole situation with hexbear nicely. Some people are incredibly mad that people on hexbear don't share the same viewpoints as them and also those people on hexbear might be a little mean. I don't see why lemmy.world defederated from them, but I suppose with enough crybabies, anything can be cancelled.
I first cited a nazi sympathizer without noticing this. After they refused to accept this, I cited the UN instead. Guess what they said in the comments? That the oppression of Uyghurs is not genocide.
The comments weren't entirely mild either. Have you not seen those screenshots of comments using insults? Don't you think it's a red flag that such a large portion of hate speech on Lemmy is from Hexbear?
If you like Hexbears, you should leave lemmy.world and go make an account on an instance that has not defederated from them.
You cited the UN and made claims that the UN themselves didn't make and you were called out on that too. Yes, I read your post, so don't try to misrepresent what happened. What are you calling "hate speech"? You keep misrepresenting what others are saying and then you wonder why you get insulted. Either you're completely clueless or you're just pretending in a poor attempt at gaining sympathy. Either way, you could use the bluntness.
I had made an account on lemm.ee a few days ago, actually. Unlike you, however, I'm not obsessed with hexbear and don't feel the need to go out of my way to interact with that instance (have nothing against them, just haven't gotten around to it).
And I saw exactly what happened when Lemmy.ml federated with them. Fucking yikes. I'm glad I got out of that hell hole.
Yet if I go directly to the source by visiting lemmy.ml itself, I don't see the issue you're talking about. Perhaps you are overly sensitive to viewpoints that differ from your own?
Of course, if I tell you to taste the shit sandwich you'll say it's delicious, I'm not here to change your tastes, man. You like what you like and that's all good. But funny that you use the same regurgitated talking points all these hypocrite tankies use to justify their shit. "I just have a different opinion, you're just sensitive" and get their panties in a bunch when they get contradicted in the slightest lol
You haven't even explained what you dislike about that instance, you just went "Fucking yikes. I’m glad I got out of that hell hole." and then claimed I'm the one getting my panties in a bunch. I can only guess at what the baby is crying about this time.
Lmfao. Maybe you should've started asking basic questions before getting testy, huh. Funny how that goes right through your own foot. Oh, and now I'm telling you that you're the one getting your panties in a bunch? If you read what I said carefully, it says the fucking tankies who got federated with were a bunch of hypocrites and that you're starting to sound a lot like them. But if the shoe fits, wear it with pride. But call it crying all you want, simpleton, it's not like I haven't heard your droning insults a million times and counting.
That's a whole bunch of words to say absolutely nothing.
I'm sorry you have trouble reading, but apparently no trouble at all playing dumb
I'm aware that people cry about certain instances for being "tankie" but I wanted to know what you consider "tankie" or otherwise so horrible that you can't stand to read a post from there. You then went on to rant about whatever instead of simply telling me because you're full of shit.
People were literally telling me, loud and proud, that they were tankies and that I should "cry about it". They were posting lame ass memes, insulting all liberals in the thread and defending their dear leaders in the East. Every thread that became even slightly political was like that. So how does that make me full of shit, asswipe
