which mostly last for like 1-2 months before I lost all interest and move on to another fixation... or being in slump with no interest for months

Yeah... this is the way. I really wish I had just one fixation that stuck with me my whole life. I think I would have been a lot happier. And also would have wasted less money on temporary interests.

i literally paid 500 bucks for a sim racing setup i used for 2 weeks

Weird I managed to keep a few over the span of years. But it's also hyper specific knowledge domains, so I don't think it qualifies as a hobby.

It might also be forever, like the cliche Dinos or trains, but I just always hope the next fixation is something good/worthwhile...
