Per that article the RCMP has claimed they need to break all encryption and enact society wide dragnet electronic surveillance to solve bike theft crimes.

Fucking wild.

It's like serial numbers, RFID, lora trackers, traditional security cameras, eyewitness testimony, and evidence-based search warrants don't exist. Instead, they tell us that we have to give up all our rights to find lost dogs and bikes. I'm a cyclist with a few decently nice bikes and I'm not silly enough to think my bikes overrule anyone's 4th and 5th amendment rights.
