It's not stupid if it works.
There's a little ditty I like to sing to the tune of "if you're happy and you know it" that starts "if it's stupid and it works, it isn't dumb ..."
I started singing it and then got to the "if you're happy and you know it, and you really wanna show it" part, and now I can't finish it. 😭

There are plenty of examples of things that "just work" which are poorly implemented.
For example, my life. 😜
Not always. I can take the riving knife off my table saw. It works just fine without it, but it's going to lead to kickback and a very bad day. I'd call removing it pretty stupid.
